The Nigerian Army has commissioned a brand new 10-unit en-suite bungalow transit accommodation for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers at the 1 Brigade Cantonment in Gusau.
Executed by the 1 Brigade Nigerian Army under the leadership of the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Mustapha Jimoh, the modern housing project is designed to ease residential congestion, provide comfortable privacy for deserving soldiers, and drastically improve living standards within the barracks.
Speaking at the event, Brigadier General Jimoh emphasized that the project directly reflects the core operational principles of troops’ welfare and force protection.
Delivering the project overview, the 1 Brigade Cantonment Maintenance Officer, Major Maina Kyari, noted that construction began on 2 December 2025 and was successfully finalized on the 18 July, 2026 with fully equipped kitchens, toilets, solar-powered boreholes, overhead water storage tanks, interlocking pavement stones, and environmental beautification trees.
While cutting the ceremonial tape on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Major General BP Koughna, lauded the Brigade Commander for executing the project and commended the supervisor for a job well done.
The GOC stressed that the new facility strongly embodies the current army leadership’s “soldier-first” command philosophy, ensuring that personnel returning from demanding security operations enjoy a dignified and comfortable environment.
