Unknown gunmen have killed a Senatorial Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for Enugu East, Mr Oyibo Chuku on Wednesday.
It was gathered that the deceased was killed at Amechi, Awkunanaw Local Government Area of Enugu on his way back from a political rally alongside some of his supporters.
The killers were said to have burnt the corpses of the slain victims.
Reacting to the incident, the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in the state, Chijioke Edeoga, who also confirmed the incident to the newsmen, said his party members are long being targeted for assassination by politicians who felt threatened by the rise of the Labour Party in the state.
Enugu Police Command is yet to issue any statement on the incident as at the time of filling this report.
