Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar, representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, has initiated the distribution of a significant Ramadan package aimed at alleviating the hardship faced by the less-privileged during the holy month.
The distribution ceremony, flagged off in Talata-Mafara Local Government Area, witnessed the dispersal of 358 trucks loaded with assorted grains to 250,000 households across Zamfara State.
The assortment of grains, including rice, sugar, corn and millet, seeks to facilitate easier fasting for beneficiaries during Ramadan. Emphasizing the apolitical nature of the gesture, Senator Yari underscored its purpose to assist all needy individuals, irrespective of their political affiliations.
Addressing the crowd, Senator Yari’s representative, former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and former senator Zamfara North, Senator Tijjani Yahaya, highlighted the equitable distribution plan, ensuring fairness across the state’s 14 local government areas.
“Each local government area is set to receive 25 trucks to cater to the needs of its populace, with special considerations given to Gusau the state capital which receives 33 trucks for population density.” He declared
Furthermore, Senator Yari urged the distribution committees to uphold principles of fairness and impartiality in administering the relief items and called upon Muslims to utilize the Ramadan period not only for fasting but also for fervent prayers for peace and stability in Zamfara State and Nigeria at large.
The chairman of the distribution committee, Lawal M. Liman, reiterated the inclusive nature of the initiative, emphasizing the importance of communal prayers for divine rewards for Senator Yari’s benevolent actions.
“This comprehensive endeavor reflects Senator Yari’s commitment to providing essential support to vulnerable populations, transcending political boundaries for the collective welfare of the community.” Liman said
The pilot distribution of the gesture which took place at Galadima Ward in Talata Mafara local government area had many influential politicians, a cross section of Needy, political supporters and well wishers in attendance.
