OPHD troops ambush, kill 10 bandits, rescue 9, recover 7 rifles in Zamfara

As Operation Hadarin Daji, OPHD, intensify onslaught against the marauding bandits in northwest, the  troops of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Danmarke, Bukkuyum LGA acting on credible information on armed Bandits movement with some kidnap victims from Sokoto state through Gadar Zaima village in Zamfara state, the troops ambushed the Bandits neutralized 10 of them, rescued all the kidnap victims and recovered arms and ammunition. 

Our correspondent at the 1 Brigade Nigerian Army Headquarters, Gusau reported that the troops who immediately mobilized for an offensive ambush operation within the village, made contact with the armed bandits in a high volume of fire exchange that lasted for hours. 

Due to the troops firepower  superiority which forced the Bandits to abandon the kidnapped victims and withdraw in disarray. 

During firefight 10 bandits were neutralized while unconfirmed numbers of them fled with gunshot wounds and several others drowned in a swampy river in an attempt to escape from the troops.  

Consequently, after the encounter 6 AK 47 Rifles, 1PKT Machine Gun and 5 Magazines were recovered. 

Other items recovered includes 20 rounds of 7.62MM Special ammunition, 3 Mobile phones, 2 Solar Panels, 1 sewing machine and Sum of Two million, four hundred and ten thousand Naira cash (N2,410,000.00) were recovered from the Bandits 

All the 9 Kidnap victims rescued were from Sokoto state.  Unfortunately, 1 female among the victim was killed by the Bandits during the firefight. 

However,  the troops captured two (2) of the Bandits alive.

All the rescued victims were handed over to the appropriate authority to reunite them with their respective families.
