President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura from Zamfara and other members to the inaugural Governing Board of the North West Development Commission (NWDC).
This was contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists by the Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, saying, this marks a step in advancing development across the region following the signing of the North West Development Commission Bill into law on July 24.
The list of nominees, which was submitted to the Senate for confirmation, includes Ambassador Haruna Ginsau (Jigawa) as Chairman and Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji (Kano) as Managing Director/CEO. Other members are Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe (Sokoto), Hon. Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi), Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman (Kaduna), Hon. Engr. Muhammad Ali Wudil (Kano), Shamsu Sule (Katsina), and Nasidi Ali (Jigawa).
The board is tasked with driving economic growth, empowerment, and social development in the North West. Senator Tijjani Kaura and his colleagues are expected to bring their expertise to support the NWDC’s mission of fostering sustainable development in the region.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the Commission delivers on its mandate, emphasizing the importance of regional growth and empowerment.
