Zamfara State House of Assembly has confirmed the extension of the tenure of fourteen Local Government Councils sole Administrators for an additional six months.

The decision came following a thorough deliberation and the presentation of a report by a Special Committee chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Adamu Aliyu Gummi, mandated to screen the sole Administrators before their confirmation.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press secretary of the state house of assembly, Bello Madaro Kurya said all the fourteen Interim Administrators appeared before the Committee during the screening exercise, ensuring transparency and accountability in the process.

The call for the extension was initiated by Governor Dauda Lawal, who, on April 24th, 2024, sent a formal request through the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar M. Nakwada, addressed to the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu. This request was in accordance with the law mandating the confirmation of Local Government Interim Administrators.

After careful consideration and unanimous consent from all Honourable Members, Speaker Bi’yaminu Ismail Moriki announced the approval and confirmation of the extension for fourteen Local Government Interim Administrators for an additional six months, as requested by Governor Dauda Lawal.

In his address, Speaker Moriki charged all fourteen Interim Administrators to justify the confidence reposed in them by ensuring good and quality leadership in their respective Local Government Areas.
