Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, has declared a movement restriction in Kaura Namoda South ahead of the State Constituency byelection set for Saturday, 16th August 2025.
Addressing journalists at the Police Command Headquarters in Gusau, CP Maikaba said the restriction, which will last from midnight to 6:00pm on election day, is aimed at allowing security personnel to effectively manage operations and guarantee a safe and peaceful atmosphere for voters.
He further stressed that all non-federal security bodies — including the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG), ZAROTA, Vigilantes, Yansakai, Hunters, and similar groups are banned from participating in any form of the electoral process, in compliance with Section 91(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended).
Maikaba cautioned that anyone caught flouting the order will be prosecuted.
