A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election under the party’s platform.

Dr. Shinkafi made the declaration while addressing a crowd of supporters and stakeholders at a meeting held at a Conference Hall in Gusau, the state capital.
Shinkafi , a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) said he is fully qualified to contest for any elective position in the APC, stressing that the era of imposition of candidates within the party is over.
“I am a bonafide member of the APC and have every right to contest in the party’s primaries. Nobody can intimidate me,” Shinkafi said.
He decried what he described as the political dominance of Zamfara West Senatorial Zone, noting that it has produced governors for 20 out of the state’s 28 years, while Zamfara North had only four years.
Meanwhile, Shinkafi’s political group, the “Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Front”, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the sole APC candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The endorsement, which took place during the stakeholders’ meeting, was moved by Yushau Mada and seconded by Asmau Gusau.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Shinkafi said the decision followed Tinubu’s “tremendous achievements and people-centered policies,” especially in tackling insecurity and promoting development across the country.
He urged APC supporters nationwide to rally behind President Tinubu to ensure his re-election in 2027.
Several party stakeholders who spoke at the meeting commended both President Tinubu and Dr. Shinkafi, pledging their support for their respective political ambitions.
