Zamfara state house of assembly has commenced the amendment process of the state owned university, Talata Mafara to make it more functional.
This was contained in Press release made available to SMARTS NEWS by the Chief Press Secretary of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Belllo Madaro Kurya, said the request to that effect was presented before the house by the Majority leader Belllo Muhammad Mazawaje Tsafe and seconded by the Minority Leader of the house Aliyu Ango Kagara.
According to him, while presenting the request the Majority leader noted that the Executive Arm of government prayed for the amendment of the Bill to enable the State University function like that of sister states of the Federation.
In their Contributions to the matter, Members representing Gummi One, Bakura, Maru North, and Tsafe West, Bashiru Aliyu Gummi, Ibrahim T Tukur, Nasiru Abdullahi Maru and Amiru Ahmad Keta described the action by the State Executive as welcome development due to bad condition of the University since its establishment to date.
After an extensive debate the members unanimously agreed to go ahead with the bill, which the Speaker Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki directed Clerk to the House Alhaji Mamuda Aliyu to give it First and second reading respectively.
The Speaker therefore mandated the joint Committees of Education and Judiciary to conduct their assignment for scrutiny and report their findings within two weeks.
In another development the House today deliberated and called on the State government and other Security agencies to ensure the establishment of Security Camp and Patrol Team in Gora Namaye, Kaya, Faru all in Maradun Two Constituency following a request presented by Member representing Maradun Two, Hon Maharazu Salisu Faru and seconded by Hon Amiru Ahmad Keta representing Tsafe West Constituency.
Hon Maharazu Salisu Faru while presenting the request before the House expressed worry on the security situation of his area since withdrawal of the Security agents posted there, stressing that as a result of such action people are even conducting their activities with great fear as Bandits can kill or kidnap them.
