The Zamfara State Government has approved ₦2.75 billion for the construction of an ultra‑modern trailer park in Damba, Gusau.

According to the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Alhaji Nasiru Ibrahim Zurmi, the project aims to ease traffic congestion, boost road safety, and protect the state’s new roads.
The Commissioner who made the announcement while briefing journalists in Gusau, said the park became essential due to the rising number of heavy‑duty vehicles on major roads of the Capital city of the state.
He explained that indiscriminate parking of petrol tankers and trailers has caused traffic hazards, road damage, and fire outbreaks elsewhere, issues Zamfara is determined to avoid. The new park will safeguard road infrastructure, cut accidents, and generate revenue from service fees.
Governor Dauda Lawal has given full approval, directing contractors to mobilize to the site in early December. The existing facility including a warehouse, hotel, restaurant, admin block, logistics units, and police station will be renovated and expanded.
He noted that, phase one of the project will provide parking for 100‑150 trailers on reinforced concrete pavement. The ₦2.75 billion project is slated for completion in 16 months.
Commissioner Zurmi expressed confidence that it will improve traffic flow, safety, and the state’s economy, aligning with Governor Lawal’s Rescue Mission Agenda.
