Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state has warmly welcomed Dr. Maryam Ismaila Keshinro, the newly appointed Federal Permanent Secretary representing Zamfara State, in a meeting held on Sunday.
This followed the announcement last Friday of Dr. Maryam and seven others as new federal permanent secretaries.
In a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, Governor Lawal expressed his pride in Dr. Maryam’s accomplishments and extended his congratulations on her recent appointment. He emphasized the significance of her new role and the expectations for her to be an exemplary ambassador for the State.
“I want to use this opportunity to congratulate you on your recent appointment as a federal permanent secretary,” said Governor Lawal. “This is indeed a remarkable milestone that we hope and pray you will utilize for the service of our dear nation and also help us in our quest to rebuild our beloved state.”
The governor assured Dr. Maryam of the state government’s full support and acknowledged her achievements, stating, “Zamfara State government will provide you with all the support you need, and we are proud of your achievements. I host you today to appreciate you and to let you know that on behalf of the state, we are all proud of you.”
Radio Nigeria recalled that the appointment of Dr Maryam Ismail Keshinro has generated a public uproar where specifically Zamfara state government has rejected the appointment in a letter dated 24 May, 2024 with reference ZMS/OHOS/ADM/1/6/24 addressed to the Head of Service of the Federation and signed by the Zamfara State Head of Service Ahmed Aliyu Liman, it claimed that the nominee for its state did not meet the PSR eligibility criteria Rule 020811(e)(f) which linked the requirement to indigenship.
However, in another letter dated 24 March 2024, signed by the secretary of the Emirate Hassan Muhammad Bawa and addressed to “Whom it may concern.” The letter reads in part, “this is to notify you that the bearer Dr (Mrs) Maryam Ismaila Kashinro is an indigene of Tsafe Local Government Council of Zamfara State.”
